With the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, Pictora started looking at ways to support individuals self-isolating in the community and those locked down in prison.
A special online Made Visible was launched to provide a platform for individuals to showcase their creative work during these challenging times.
The pandemic work and support of Pictora is ongoing, both in the community and in prison. If you are interested in being involved, would like support from Pictora or working in a prison and think that the pandemic work of Pictora could help support your inmates, then please contact us.
We are keen to hear from individuals, community groups, Jobcentre work coaches, probation and prison staff.
In prison...
Working with a range of prisons across the UK, Pictora has provided over 250 Made Visible art packs, together with a range of art materials, for prisoners to use in their cells, during periods of lock down.
Pictora has opened Made Visible to all prisons across the UK, to support prisoners during the Covid-19 lockdown challenges.
Made Visible builds self-esteem and engages prisoners in creative work, supporting postive mental health and personal resilience.
In the community...
Pictora has encouraged individuals who are self-isolating or locked down, to submit their art, poetry and photography, helping them to feel part of a creative community and in turn helping to support positive mental health. Several of our participants have been unemployed and are using participation with Pictora as a means to develop their employability skills, develop their self confidence and personal motivation.
